Lyrics

It’s a normal day
Friday afternoon
On a normal week

We were by the bay
The clock just went past two
Then the ground began to shake

I’m trudging through the wreckage of my shattered world
I’m wading through the remains of the boys and girls
Evacuated children to a place no safer
Five miles inland the sea still is no stranger

Is the taxi empty
Or was someone really there
There’s only ruins
Destination is nowhere

You stop to ask
Why we built the gates
When the ceiling is falling
Then you’ll understand our fates

I’m trudging through the wreckage of my shattered world
I’m wading through the remains of the boys and girls
Evacuated children to a place no safer
Five miles inland the sea still is no stranger
